i am still so in love.

john brunt, you're my favorite human.  you're the perfect blend of adventurous and laid back, patient but hard-working, real but kind.  after a hard day at work you come home and somehow manage to fix everything.  you value things that are important, like being close to the ones you love, and eating only delicious food.  and {even though it sometimes makes me stress if dinner is going to be great,} i admire that about you.  i am in awe at how you still love me despite all my flaws and personality changes {which i am working/praying hard to prevent}.  if i had looked at current self five years ago, i still would have said yes to you on the top of sawtelle mountain.  i love you so much.

these days i am consumed with being a mother.  which ultimately, is the most wonderful thing i could be doing, and i am so grateful to be doing it.  but as i was going though old blog posts i realized how in the consumption of caring for our girls and enjoying every minute with them, i almost forget to document anything about the man that not only loves and supports us, but quite literally gives everything he is and has for us.  i used to quite frequently (and publicly) document how much i love and appreciate my john harman.  all those feelings are still there, but the "us" time gets buried underneath discussions about the girls and taking care of them, and i have shamelessly missed the mark, {except for an instagram post or two}, when it comes to thanking and expression my appreciation for him.

so today i wanted to say thank you, and that i am going to love you for the rest of forever.

this one's for the man i married.

dear mr. brunt:

thanks for being an amazing man.  i mean it.
thanks for putting up with my silly whims and meltdowns and food demands and for loving me anyway.
thanks for suggesting we eat ice cream every night, because you know i love it.
of all the people i know, you are my favorite.
and our B is a very close second.

thanks for her too, now that i think about it.
i love you more and more each day.

love,
your wife

also, you are smokin' hot.

a letter to baby #2:

dear baby girl,

just a few short weeks until you will join our family.  i feel bad, because you haven't gotten the same number of silly pregnancy letters or bump pics as your older sister.  you're kind of getting my parenting sloppy-seconds if you will, but hazel was the guinea pig, so it all evens out kind of, doesn't it?

we are stressing about what to name you.  with hazel, we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted her name to be.  but with you, we are really unsure.  i'm hoping that i will see your cute face and know what your name should be.  right now, i spend late nights frantically searching the internet for names i love.  hopefully, something will stick soon!

you've mostly made me crave cafe rio, double-doubles, cookies and cream ice cream, dirty diet coke, and neopolitan pizza.  my hips and thighs have got plenty of meat on them thanks to those cravings you are sending my way!  womb service is in full swing these days, and your daddy happily obliges.  our food budget is through the roof this month, but what baby wants, baby gets!

despite the lack of bump pics, letters in the womb, and late-night cravings, we dearly love you already, and can't wait for you to get here.  {but really i can wait... you stay in there until you're completely ready, okay?}

a little letter to john harman,

john harman, last night was wonderful.  after a long hard day at clinical, i really needed a night out with my best friend.  thanks for being so wonderful to me.  thanks for holding me and telling me that it will all be okay.  thanks for helping me see that if i do my best, the Savior will make up the difference.  thanks for choosing me out of all the people you could have chosen.  you make life beautiful and happy.

also, thanks for the pizza pie.  i found it quite delicious.

dear shmohn,

do you dislike it when i call you shmohn?  our friend lauren says it, and she kind of has a way of making things rub off on me.  but if you aren't fond of it, i will swipe it from my vocabulary.  permanently.  speaking of vocabulary.... i really liked that we learned three new words together last night before we read scriptures.  can we do that every night?  i certainly think we should.

i had forgotten how delicious a caramel apple can be.  {yes, i ate your caramel apple from the wedding.  is that okay?  i will buy you an even better one if you want.  one from rocky mountain chocolate factory with crumbs of all kinds of goodness on them.... like snickers chunks, or pie crust, or nuts! yay.}  yesterday, as i chomped on this rather delicious caramel apple, i contemplated the cruelty of the universe.  it is 50 degrees, rainy, and my husband has to work all day while i sit at home.  bored.  watching the food network and catching up on the various t.v. shows i am obsessed with {ie. bones, house, grey's anatomy, glee....}  i'm not really sad for myself - i can keep myself busy and entertained - {mostly! although we both know that i am an active body, and i usually resort to compulsively cleaning the house when i have nothing else to do....} but i am sad for you....  cooped up in an office with one little window to look out and see the parking lot through.  not even much scenery.  i thought that maybe one of these days i would make a poster and bring it to your office.  then i would stand outside your window like the cool person that i am and dance.  then you would notice the poster telling you how awesome you are and that i love you, and get a tad bit embarrassed.  but you would still love it and it would brighten your day.  right?  right?

but that will have to wait until we get good weather i suppose.  it is a mere 46 degrees outside right now, and r.a.i.n.y.  what - do we live in seattle or something?  last time i checked, nope.  i can't wait until we go to cancun in nine days!  can you believe it?  the forecast there: 90 degrees and sunny.  won't that be the best?  i can't wait to get back on that beach and eat that delicious food and just veg.  for hours.  i think you need it.  right?  am i right?

i love you more than you will ever know.

dear earth,

i really love you, you know.
i try to treat you well,
and i'm even planning on tilling your soil and planting a beautiful garden in it in the next couple of weeks.
so will you please try and be warm and pleasant in a bit?
thanks.
