we went shooting.

our date this weekend consisted of in-and-out, the maverick, and lots of fun shooting.

 watch me shoot this gun.  hilarious.  the kick-back startles me every time.  but i'm a pretty good shot - just ask john.  i think i was having more fun with his beretta than he was!

zhen-zhu

we tried the green panda on friday night.  delicious.  there is just something about those little round tapioca balls.  see those black balls in the bottom of the drink?  they're called zhen-zhu {pronounced jun-jou} or "boba" and oh, are they delicious.  and the potstickers!  oh, the potstickers.  need i say more?

life this week has been chaotic, but fun.

most notable craziness that occurred:

i started my psych rotation. {no pun intended.}

psych is kind of exciting.  i am on the forensic unit, so there is never a boring day.  i think that my communication skills as a nurse will probably be greatly improved throughout this semester as i talk to the patients.  which was needed - believe me. there's nothing worse than not being able to comfort or help your patient emotionally. it is the worst.  so i am so excited for this opportunity.  at times i feel uncomfortable with patients, but i am learning so much about myself and about how to help them.

and so it begins....

icu came at me like a whirlwind yesterday.   i sat in the three-hour lecture and struggled with every ounce of my brain power to comprehend and apply everything that the teacher was saying.  afterward i thought, my brain hurts.  and also, i may be dead before the semester is over.  but i am happily not dead yet, and i have an amazing husband who loves me.  honestly, sometimes that man makes me go weak in the knees.  so even with the beginning of a daunting semester of nursing school, i can hold on to the fact that he will be home each night, and that i will be safe in his arms.

mady's birthday!

mady is 21! and to celebrate we ate breakfast at old classic, over the counter.  it was a blast to see the gang again and to chat about old times.  love these girls so much.
