how time flies.

today as we drove home from my grandma's house,
john and i were discussing finances. {really really interesting stuff....}
"we've saved about this much each month.... and so we've saved about how much since we got married?"

"october 1st to november 1st...."
"december, january, february, march, april."
"holy crap! we've been married six months!?!"

six months since april 1st,
and we didn't even notice.

perhaps it is our busy schedule,
perhaps it's stress from homework.
perhaps it's that we both had obligations that didn't include each other on april first.
{him - bachelor party, me - bridal shower.  we do live in provo, you know}
i myself don't venture to make any excuses.
we both didn't think about it, because well, it isn't important.
what's important came straight from the mouths of wonderful prophets of God this past week during conference.  they reminded me that it's all about family.  it's all about the gospel.  and in essence, it's all about john and the children/home/family/life that we are going to have/build together.
i hope you had a similarly lovely weekend!

i love wednesday.

wednesday.  i love wednesdays.
wednesday means the middle of weak.
wednesday means i only have to get through two more days of school.
come friday, i get my husband all to myself again.
and that's all i want, because i'm just so darn selfish!
{cheesy much? yes, i would say so.}

i am talking with him on the phone right now, actually.
he is telling me how excited he is for dinner tonight,
and how he thought about it a lot today.
{i am making fake cafe rio, and it's the bomb!}
well, i am doing my best to make his life happy.
he is my single source of happiness, after all.
i totally owe him.

newlyweds.

today during church i was very, very, hungry.
and as we walked into the house and pulled out the guacamole in the fridge:
john: "it must be the costco guacamole"
me: "what?"
john: "the costco guacamole that turns brown"
me: "it's not the costco guacamole! all guacamole turns brown!!!!"
john: silence.  then:  "i think you need to eat something."

you got me there.
i don't do well with low blood sugar.
and sometimes i get angry.  i think he's figured it out.
i'm just so grateful that john can still love me with all my faults.
{and call me on my crap}

in addition,
john benchpressed me last night.
i didn't think such a thing was possible.
AND.... i sliced open my finger tonight as we were making dinner.
john put a big huge bandage on it for me and kissed it better.
oh, how i love being newlyweds.

1.18.2011

i thought we were past this.

i keep thinking that my twitterpation will soon subside,
that i will go back to occasional boredom,
that i have the potential to be miserable,
{like some other people in the world seem to be},
and just when i think i'm about to snap back into reality....

i realize that i can't and won't.
twitterpation is my reality.
boredom is for boring people:  as my husband always says.
and misery is impossible.
no way can you be unhappy when you're married to your best friend.
no way.

we've been married over three months.
a very small amount of time, i realize.
that means that i have only known john for about 4% of my life.
{i figured that out by myself, you know}

the point is,
i have never been so happy.
and if this 4% is indicative of how life will be
when my married years constitute 60 percent of my life...
and then 75.....
and then 90....
i can't imagine how happy i will be then.
oh, how i love him.

12.03.2010

i think i am a horrible wife.

last night, i threw john's jeans in the dryer because i was in a hurry.
now, they are a little tight.
i am trying to do things right.......
make dinner every night, do the laundry, keep the house clean, keep up on my schoolwork.....
then every once and awhile i make a big mistake like this.
like the time i left chicken-juice on the counter for a minute before disinfecting it.....
and john promptly came and sat in the chicken juice.
i am definitely a newlywed.

11.12.2010

last night:

john:  you know you snore, right?
paige:  what?
john:  you snore.  it's how i can tell you're asleep.
paige:  (giggles)  {okay.... more like uncontrollable, blasting laugh}
john:  not a loud, old-man snore, but like a cute snore.  like you can't breathe with your retainer in.
paige:  and you never thought to tell me this?
john:  uhhhh..... no.
paige:  how long have you known this?
john:  since our honeymoon.
{awesome.}
paige:  too bad you're stuck with me.
john:  yeah, such a burden.

want to know a secret?

as a beloved blog follower (aka the few people that actually enjoy reading this), you are privileged to know all my deep-dark secrets.
for example,
yesterday, john and i ate leftovers. {shhhhhhh!}
but i made bread sticks, which should redeem me.
also, i got my hair cut.
i have 20/200 vision in my right eye,
but now i feel even more blind.
since my bangs won't stay out of it.
additionally, i cannot wait for thanksgiving.
my nursing classes are killing me.
literally.
i think i have mono.
and this week john will be home by maybe eight every night.  if we are lucky.
and, the dishes are piling up in the sink!
BUT, we put cute wedding pictures up in our house.
and the carpet has been cleaned.
my last day of clinical is tomorrow,
and i just had a bowl of cinnamon life.
now that you know all my secrets,
you can see that life -
is really, really good.

11.01.2010

one month down, eternity to go.

cheesy, but true.
if every month ends up being as magnificent as this one,
 i am well on my way to being
the happiest woman
who has ever walked
this earth.

10.27.2010

grocery shopping.

our first experience shopping for groceries.
me:  "do we need that babe?"
him:  "you bet we do."
me:  "well, this will last us at least a couple of months."
him:  "yep.  get it."
me:  "i thought for sure we could get out of here for fifty dollars."
him:  "are you kidding?  at costco?"
there were only seven items in our cart!
wholesale shopping.
oh, the beauty of being a housewife.
budgeting and cooking and cleaning.
good thing i love all those things.
