finals week, the weekend, and other recent happenings.

now that finals week is done, {and my cortisol levels have diminished significantly,} i am thinking much more clearly.  i probably no longer have impaired glucose control, or sleep deprivation.  {all three are things that happen when an individual is in a crisis situation, as i have learned in psychology.}  this clarity has brought along a lot of peace about everything in my life.  something i have been seeking after for quite some time.

the weekend was fun.  although i had an icu final, after that i told john we would do nothing but play!  {it was raining outside anyway, so there was no chance of doing yardwork - for which john was grateful!}  we ate cafe rio for lunch, went shooting {one of my favorite saturday dates!}, and went to hibachi with ryan and janessa for dinner:

i've decided that i love hibachi.  it is worth going for the fried rice alone!  and we had the "fuzzy wuzzy" sushi as well. {isn't that a funny name?} so by the time my steak came, i was already full....

other recent happenings:

spending tuesday and wednesday with the family and spending about ten hours playing mario party with andy jack {and going on bike rides.... and having sword fights.... all things i love!}

preparing for taiwan and getting the butterflies every time i think about it

planning our last temple trip before i go abroad

drinking lots of diet coke

anything but studying

i am thoroughly convinced that red robin has the best sweet-potato fries in the state.

maybe even the nation.
last night, we went out to eat at a old-time favorite.
red robin. yum.
i love the weekends because i get to eat delicious food, watch fun movies, and snuggle with my best friend nonstop and keep him all to myself.
and the rookie magic shake, i will have you know, is actual real magic.

my favorite photos of the week.

this week has been an emotional roller-coaster.  and if i was to describe that roller-coaster to you, i'd probably mention that it had more downs than ups.  just like you'd expect, you have some up moments, but  the coaster is consistently sinking lower, and lower, and lower.... and then the ride ends.  wow, roller-coasters are kind of depressing if you stop and think about it.

yesterday, i basically worked myself to pure exhaustion-mode studying.  i walked home in utter distress and bewilderment, and when john finally called to say that he was coming home, {he got in about 9:30} i literally burst into tears.  as my mom would say, sometimes you just need a good cry.

he offered to bring me home a diet coke, and we watched deadliest warrior for the rest of the night.  sometimes, i think that life just is that way, and there's nothing we can do about it.  but it sure makes it a whole lot better to have a cable tv and lots of diet coke on hand.

my favorite photos so far of the week:

1.  "who's kidding who?  experience matters"  oh, such a scary {but funny} poster for a nursing student to see.  on the one hand, i have more experience that those kiddos, but on the other hand, i often feel like i lack just as much experience as them.
2.  we were watching a football game
3.  on my way home from campus

under the weather.

we are living in a house of infectious disease, folks.  the past few days have been complete with infected eyes, lost voices, aching throats, coughing up a lung, nuchal rigidity, and runny noses.  gosh, we have a lot of runny noses around here.

my formula for making your sickness woes go away:
diet coke + romantic novel + a fun sewing project + lots of ibuprophen = a less sore throat and plenty of distraction and solitary rest.

the nice thing about a sore throat:  the perfect excuse to get your husband to take you out for ice cream.

happy thursday!

bright eyes.

i've always considered myself an optimist.  really!
so let's just focus on the positives of last night, shall we?

{i won't mention the terrible state some american teenagers and young adults are in - the booze, weed, immorality, and poor lifestyle in which many choose to indulge - some call it freedom of expression, i call it ruining your life.  and i definitely won't mention being pushed and shoved by people who needed to get to the front so that they could take off their bras and give them to mr. bright eyes.... and don't ask me to mention the girl that passed out right next to me during the concert.  oh, i pity them.  i really do!}

we had a wonderful time at the concert last night!  we had delicious cheesesteaks at our favorite place, and listened to some good music, and got diet coke on the way home.  and, despite the injuries of the evening, i got to cuddle with a big tall redhead throughout the concert.  and that, my friends, makes it all worth it.

i am totally a summer bum.

evidence:
1.  yesterday, i showered at 5pm.
2.  i have read two novels in this past week.
3.  the most pressing thing i have to do is walk from the couch to the kitchen to stuff my face with easter candy:
4.  i'm almost starting to say, "school? what is that? and why would anyone ever put themselves through such misery?!"
5.  i'm crafting!
6.  i'm not cooking.  why would i cook when my mom makes such deliciousness as this:
{fried egg rolls and won tons,
and bacon-fried rice.}
7.  there are plenty of these in the fridge, and i am drinking one constantly:

8.  i am consistently on the hunt for the perfect vacation for john and i.  jamaica, anyone?  {and i'm kinda serious.}  i just can't get the idea of beaches, sunshine, and unlimited diet cokes out of my head.
9.  i distract john from studying, and we end up watching war of the worlds together.
10.  we get fro-yo every night.
i still think:  innocent until proven guilty.
